In the beauty industry, aesthetics represents a philosophy that refers directly to health and appearance utilizing a variety of techniques which allow clients to be proactive in their choice of treatments. These services help avoid more invasive medical procedures, while providing comfort and confidence both emotionally and physically.
The following services focus on many different components that will ultimately leave you feeling healthier, calmer and more confident that a bit of pampering is always a good thing.
Coastal Collective
Coastal Collective, located in Mount Pleasant, is run by April Cannon Nius. Utilizing different “drip” or IV therapies, clients will feel a boost in energy, combat stress and receive instant hydration. This is great for dehydration and hangovers, food poisoning, chronic fatigue, low energy, constipation, dull skin, before and after flights and cold recovery. The service takes anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes to administer, and people can return to their normal routines immediately.
Nius advised: “Our clients enjoy the variety of IVs we offer, administered by professional medical providers in a relaxed atmosphere. They enjoy the services surrounded by unique oriental rugs, original artwork, fresh plants and great tunes. Patients often comment on the amount of energy they feel immediately after receiving their IV, how well they sleep and how they now have increased focus.”

Coastal Vascular & Vein Center
Kendal Bittner of Coastal Vascular and Vein, located in Charleston, relayed: “Our clients enjoy sclerotherapy as a cosmetic option to improve the appearance of spider and small varicose veins. The procedure is office based and minimally invasive, with little to no downtime.”
Sclerotherapy requires some protection from the sun for a few days and involves injecting a solution directly into the vein. The solution causes the vein to scar, forcing blood to reroute through healthier veins. The collapsed vein is reabsorbed into tissue and eventually fades.
“Our clients feel more confident and comfortable exposing their legs after treatment. The treatment continues to improve the appearance over several weeks until the final results. Our clients are also surprised how easy the treatment is,” Bittner confirmed.

Frigid CryoTherapy + Recovery Spa
Opened in Greenville in 2016, Frigid offers a variety of services that promote rapid recovery, aid in pain management, assist in anti-aging concerns and overall health and wellness issues, including whole body (cold) cryotherapy.
The managing partners, known as the “snow queens,” are identical twins Courtney Neel and Cecily Bridges. They expressed, “Our clients come to us to find a natural way to help relieve their pain and inflammation. The key for them is to find something that works but doesn’t require surgery or medication. They love the services we offer because not only do we help, they leave feeling energized and just plain good. Our services promote overall wellness, along with the many other health benefits. We have many first-time clients that come in and question the science behind it all, but they still try it, and, within days, they are hooked and shouting from the mountaintops how it has helped them. It’s an incredible feeling knowing you made a difference in their quality of life. It doesn’t get better than that.”

Medissage
Acknowledging that massage is the oldest form of medicine, owner Crystal Howell of Medissage, located in Landrum, advised: “I have a medical background in assisting in internal medicine. I practice natural pain and stress relief. I have had extra training in craniosacral therapy, SomatoEmotional Release and TMJ dysfunction, among other things. Cupping is my specialty. I use two methods of cupping.”
Cupping therapy is “an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction.” It is used for many purposes, including pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being and as a type of deep-tissue massage.
“My clients enjoy the floaty feeling after a massage when their muscles are completely relaxed and they literally feel the weight of the world lifted from their shoulders. This is the feedback I most often receive about my practice,” Howell said.
