What or who inspires you?
I have always been inspired by my mother. She worked full-time in banking and then health care while raising a family of three children. She is intelligent, compassionate, generous, resilient and a strong woman of faith. She taught me the value of education, to honor and respect my family and that there is beauty in a life of service. If someone says I’m like my momma, that is the highest compliment that anyone can give me.
As a child, did you think you would be where you are today professionally?
No, as a child I wanted to be an archeologist and dig in the sand of Egypt. As a teenager, I thought I’d become a social studies teacher. I was a politics major while attending Converse College and have a bachelor of arts. But then I decided I wanted to be a nurse. My parents could not believe it. Now I can’t imagine doing anything else. I love senior living and being an integral part of so many lives.
