Describe the moment or time of life you decided to have a career in health.
My childhood was filled with many visits to The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and my pediatrician is someone I still keep in touch with. So as someone who experienced a lot of health care as a child, I knew at a young age that I wanted to be that same caring provider for others.
Describe a moment you felt like giving up. Why didn’t you?
Honestly, I have never felt like giving up while working in health care. Over nearly three decades, I have encountered many difficult people and situations, but, at the end of the day, I was reminded that everything we do is helping to create, build or implement a program that is meant to save lives and improve quality of life. We are not here to plant seeds for ourselves but instead to plant the seed to create shade and a place of comfort for people we will never meet.
