As a child did, you think you’d be where you are today professionally?
No, not really. So many people have seen things in me that I can’t even imagine seeing in myself. When I took care of my great grandmother at the age of 21, she told me I would make a wonderful nurse; this is why I love taking care of seniors today and treat them all like they are my family.
Describe a moment you felt like giving up. Why didn’t you?
The health care field is so demanding and needing staff is a must. I felt like quitting so many times when I worked a double shift and had my regular job the next day. What keeps me going is when my residents notice I am there with them, and I will do what needs to be done for them. One of my residents just told me the other day: “I am so glad you are here today and feel so much better when I know you are here.” This is the reason I cannot and will not quit.
